a sign to us
This past Sunday was so much fun for me personally and I trust it was for you as well. It had relatively little to do with a full house attendance wise. There was so much more depth to the morning than numbers. It was special to me because the two groups that I have been called to pastor were under one roof. To watch you love on the football families and to interact with them was beautiful to behold. To watch our guests experience who we are as a Fountain Family and more importantly, the manifest Presence of God was powerful. And yet, there is another glaring joy about the morning that I want to draw our attention to. The house was full of young people! I’m sure you are aware of the MANY prophetic words about our church community being full of youth. And while I don’t think Sunday morning was the complete fulfillment of those words, I believe it was a sign to us of what is to come. God showed us that He remembered His promise to us about reaching youth! It was a sign to us and signs point to a destination.
May we be encouraged to lean into those promises over our house through prayer, intercession, and declaration. May we thank God in advance and in anticipation for filling our church with new life and young people in the days to come. May we put our hand to the plow and work by loving on young people around us. The true beauty of last Sunday morning to me was I had nothing to do with it in terms of organization and planning it. It wasn’t my idea. My football players came up with the idea and they invited their parents to come with them. I think it was fruit of me simply loving them and they wanted to step into my pastoral world. Perhaps there is a road map for us. We just love with intentionality the young people in our path and allow God to do what He has said He will do in giving us youth! We say “yes!” Lord! We welcome youth and we will love those young people around us.
