Jesus, the Good Shepherd

Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice. I know them and they follow Me.”

I think sometimes we put too much pressure and responsibility on ourselves to hear God’s voice.
We may believe that we have to listen just right and have everything in order to be able to hear Him or we may doubt that we hear Him accurately.

In this verse Jesus takes ownership as our Good Shepherd in His ability to speak to us.
You see, as a Good Shepherd, Jesus would train His sheep to respond to His voice.
He would do the speaking. His sheep just needed to be in proximity close enough to hear Him.

Friend, let’s trust Jesus’ ability to speak to us more than our ability to listen.
All we need to do is be with Him. Sure it takes some practice to hear His voice but we don’t have to strive or strain to hear Him, we just have to be near.

So let Jesus be your good shepherd and allow Him to teach you how to hear His voice!
